1516 Venice gave birth to the first “Ghetto” in the world, a system to control the Jewish that had been
present for centuries in the city, as an important part of its economy. The
Jewish were only one of the many foreign groups in Venice, together with
Greeks, Dalmatians, Moors, Albanians and Turkish.
